Baby Shower

I threw a baby shower for my sister-in-law, Suzanne, last Saturday. It was my first "shower" and it went pretty well. Although, I'll have to throw at least 100 more to catch up with my mom! She has had dozens and dozens of showers at our house that are all a big, successful hit! Someday I'll have one as great as hers.

Anyway...I did have a fun time planning everything. I decided to go with a "Favorite Things" theme. I re-wrote the words to the Sound of Music song "Favorite Things" (with help from my family) and put them on the front of the invite.

At first I didn't want to make tissue paper pom-pom balls for the decorations. Those are cute, but have been used. I found this darling tutorial and decided I was going to make three. Well, I made one and it took FOREVER!!! So, after that, pom-pom balls it was!

I found this cute activity idea on a different blog (that I can't find now!) I had the guests sign future cards for Baby Sibbett and include some "favorite" memories of themselves. I didn't get much feedback on this idea, but I still think it's unique.

For the food I served some of Suzanne's "favorite" pregnancy cravings! Everything she craved was sweet (gummy worms, Sour Patch watermelon, eclairs...) so I also made some pasta salads. Those were a big hit!

Several people have asked for the recipes...
This is the Bacon Ranch pasta recipe I used, except basically I just used it for the ranch recipe. I didn't use tomato, olives or cheddar cheese. Instead I added peas and parmesan cheese (and of course included the bacon!).
Here is the Thai Peanut Noodle pasta recipe. I wasn't completely happy with the taste/texture of my dressing, but I'm not giving up on it. Maybe at the next shower it will taste even better! I didn't include chicken and I didn't put any peppers or onion in it either.
The Italian Pasta salad recipe I made up. It was just a box of pasta, cooked and tossed with Wish Bone Italian Dressing. I put mini pepperoni's in it (you can find at any grocery store), chopped green onions, olives and cheddar cheese.
Also, here is the link (again) to the Eclair Sheet Cake I served.

I only took pictures before I put the food out and right before I cleaned it up. Bad me! But the table looked adorable and I was happy to buy myself a few new serving bowls! (I LOVE new dishes!)
